Mindfullness
You don't need to be at the very end to need this kind of care.
Quality Versus Quantity
As we look at the journey of life and we reminisce on the memories we hold dear, it becomes apparent that quality far outweighs quantity. As we approach the end of life no matter what age there are moments we hold dear and memories we cherish. This grows with time but it is the quality of the time we have used that matters, not the quantity.
Quality looks like spending time with family when comfortable and ensuring that we allow time to rest in between
Quality time doesn't have to be packing in a bunch of vacations, big moments or to do lists, it can simply be a Saturday night movie or holding hands while drinking a coffee in bed.
Quality means the people you want around you in your final days, not the people you are obligated to spend time with.
Quality can mean going into a different setting so family is no longer caregiving but allowed to just be family and focus on the memories shared instead of care needed.
The Palliative approach isn't just about death, it's about embracing the moments we have left in a holistic whole person approach. Ensuring that with each passing moment we have the power to make meaningful and fulfilling connections and memories. Embracing the philosophy that we can leave behind a legacy of significance and warmth even in our final moments.
The Path Ahead.
From our first breath to our last, life is all about moments. And regardless of when we cross the finish line or which path we go down it is essential that we get to do so with dignity and comfort. Ensuring that we are taking meaningful and mindful steps.
We can do this by prioritizing our quality of life versus quantity.
Ensuring we are fostering an environment that is calm and understanding.
Acknowledging the significance of memories and moments that we have already passed through. Be it big milestones or the simple quiet moments in between.
At the end of our time let us strive to finish strong experiencing what makes us human and ensuring that we face this end with grace and peace, surrounded by those who loved us and those who show compassion and care.
Its not just about the destination but about the path and journey that has led us here.
